A consolidated Regional Transit system is coming to Niagara in early 2023. With this new model, I will advocate that Thorold receive service to all neighbourhoods - both urban and rural.
Thank you to ATU Local 846 for the endorsement! I will advocate that our public transit continues to be publicly funded and operated at the Regional level.
Some communities in Thorold receive transit services in partnership with the Brock U-Pass. With the transition to Regional services to begin early next year, the City will need to continue to explore this partnership with Brock and continue to advocate for adequate bus service for all riders that live in our more dense neighbourhoods.
In our neighbourhoods that are more rural, I will advocate for more connectivity to our major amenities and our downtown, and build connectivity to other parts of the Region. As well, with the recent announcement of a return to weekend Go Train services to Toronto, residents of Thorold can leave their vehicles at home for a weekend visit.
If you currently aren't using Public Transit, what small changes can you make to increase your ridership?
- Avoid the hassle of parking at major events and attractions and take public transit
- Look for free ridership days, such as Voting Day or New Year's Eve
-Bike racks are available on all buses on every route, providing the opportunity to explore the region by bike once following your bus ride
-Consider leaving the car at home on Fridays! Take transit to work, dinner, entertainment, and back home again.
Follow the updates to our transit system through Niagara Region Transit.
