ABOUT
RACHAEL HAYNES
Rachael Haynes has called Thorold home since 2009 with her husband and daughter. Born and raised in St. Catharines, she has been an active member in the Niagara Region, and has long been dedicated to serving it. Rachael holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music (2005) and in Education (2012). With her combined interests in arts and education, she has used her expertise to acquire grant funding, promote and advocate for youth arts, and research music and arts opportunities for children with special needs.

Among her many commitments, she has been very active with several non-profit organizations in the region, including Friends of the Richmond Street Forest, Niagara Symphony Orchestra, AgScape, Niagara Investment in Culture, and A Greener Future. She has served as an elementary educator with the DSBN since 2015, with a passion for the arts.

Her recent efforts with Friends of the Richmond Street Forest brought forth a combined effort to restore a bulldozed Frog Pond that was protected 30 years ago. Through her advocacy work, she worked alongside environmental stakeholders to improve restoration plans, which now include native plant species, a monitoring program for Chorus frog reproduction and viability, and a terrestrial eco-passage - a first in Niagara.

Rachael is excited to join the campaign trail! She looks forward to speaking to residents and learning more about how we can "Build a Balanced Thorold".
